Rhaetian Infantry. Pack of 8 figures (four different poses). Rhaetian foot were regarded as prized mercenaries because of their proficiency with a heavy iron throwing spear called a gaesum. Rhaetians later appear in great number in the horse guard under Antoninus Pius. Emperor Hadrian must have also thought highly of them and their skill with the heavy gaesum spear because he raised a special 1000 strong Cohors Gaesatorum.
